I've been featured in another treasury today. Yay!

Ya'll remember Intres who made those AMAZING felt trees with birds on them from this post, well, she was kind enough to include me in her very colorful treasury.

Thank you so much!

I am hoping to win one of her tree prints. So pretty.....

What are hearts and how do they help?

Item hearts are a useful way of tracking interest. If something has tons of views but no hearts, it tells me that while the first image is compelling, there's something about the listing that is a turn-off. If something has lots of hearts but hasn't sold after a while, it tells me that people like it, but it may be priced too high.

Shop hearts, on the other hand, are mostly an ego-stroke. People heart shops because they like the person as often (or more often) than because they like the products or they multiple products in the shop.

Also, the more hearts you have the more often you are going to come up on the 'suggested shops' features.

For me personally, I heart items as a bookmark. Their items I may want to purchase at a later date or I might want to feature them in a treasury or my blog.

I've been featured in a treasury

This lovely treasury is called 'If I Were Little Again' and was made by Lindsay of Pink Glitter Boutique. It features cutie pie things for little girls. She included my Little Girl Rag Quilt tote. Yay!

I love the old fashion stick pony at the top.

Thanks for including me Lindsay!

New fabric

I have new fabric! You may have already seen this in my shop for boys in the brown and blue, but now I have it for little girls in PINK!

This is the On a Whim 2 collection from Amy Shimler.

I spy handbound notebooks

I am out of pages in my cheap little $1 notebook that I use to draw all my designs and patterns in. I was searching to see if I could buy one on Etsy and low and behold......there were so many lovely notebooks it is so hard to choose. I thought I'd do a post on my top picks since my eyes were seeing nothing but candy.

This baby has some kind of dark romance thing going on for me. And, I like it. It is from Baghy. Its got a leather cover and I like how square and fat it is. Also, the pages look as if they have been torn on the edges, giving it a very parchment paper look. Me, likey.

Okay...I am a little partial to stuff with birds on it. I apologize. This notebook is calling my name, though. "Buy me," it squeaks. Do you hear it?

This little lovely is from Blue Toad. All of their notebooks are little works of art. I LOVE it!

I love the spine of these babies. While browsing, it caught my eye because of their spine. These are from Space Dog Studios. They are filled with all different color papers. Very rainbow like.

This one is from Subu. And, of course if there is a notebook with an owl on it out there you know I am going to find it right?

I like this shop alot. All the notebooks in this shop are from recycled materials. And in the inside some of the papers have random pictures or text on them. Just a little something special for you. Oh...and here is the blog.

So I plan on buying one probably Friday. I LOVE all of them, but I can only buy one (a girl has to budget). I am going to transfer all my patterns and designs from my cheapy notebook to the new one, so it needs to be able to hold alot.

I would love to hear which one you think I should choose. Also, there is some very talented people out there in the world of Etsy, I must say. I will let you know which one I chose as soon as I buy and receive.

We have a winner!

Working on a Sunday.....

I have been hard at it today with a new design. Thought I'd share some photos todays of some items I finished up.
This rag quilt was for a custom order. I love these fabrics. It's the Hushabye Collection from Tula Pink with Moda. I only have enough of these fabrics left for about one more quilt. I will not be able to order any more after that.

I love this rag tote in these orange and teal fabrics. It's fun and bright and so pleasing to my eyes.

And....what I've worked the most on today. I got some new bamboo handles in Friday and I have been dying to make a tote using them. I completed the design today. I plan on keeping this bag for myself. I have a few more tweaks in the design before it is ready to start selling, but I thought I'd give you a sneak preview of my new purse. How do you like the fabric flower?

Hopefully, by next week I will have a few in the shop for sale.

Thanks for looking and reading and as always if you want to see more, feel free to browse around shop.

Etsy for Newbies

I have a hard time staring at Google Analytics (maybe my brain isn't compatable with graphs), but I dont like it. I do, however, understand why I need it and what it can do for me. Another way I can use it is called Craftopolis. First, you need to type in your etsy shop name, and then there is a little block to the right where you will log in your google analytics info. Then, you will get to see a screen that looks similar to this.

On Craftopolis, as you can see from my screen capture, I get to see a calender on the left. The purple silouhette is how many different people came to look at my shop, the white little page beneath it is how many pages were viewed in my shop, and the red heart is how many people hearted my shop.

If I can click on a particular day in the calender, on the left side it will pull up which items have been viewed so far on that day in order of which one has been viewed more. I see a pictured of the item, how many times it was viewed, and if someone has hearted that particular item there will be a red heart beside with a number inside.

This info helps me decide which items I should relist more often without having to go through my etsy shop and click on each and every item and see how many hearts it has.

Craftopolis has several other great features on it that I will cover at a later date. Feel free to contact me with questions if I've left out something.

Oh, and dont forget about the giveaway this Sunday. I dont have many entries as of yet.

I spy Pottery

It's high time I updated my kitchenware, and I found some great pottery shops on Etsy (must be handmade). Take a look at my finds and why I like them.

I use a colander almost every day while making dinner, but mine is not as pretty as this colander. This comes from Bailey Bowls. I like the simplicity in her work and I like how in the mini bowls she does everything by hand and you get this very natural look to it. Loving this owl alot.

Yummy! Pie sounds good right now and this pie plate is gorgeous. Ya'll know how I feel about birds. This one comes from 3 Bold Johnny Ceramics. I like this shop because she puts cutsie nature scenes on her wares. I'm putting this one on the wish list.

I love nesting bowls! They look so pretty in the cabinet, they dont take up much space and their functional too. These come from Karin Lorenc. Check out these soup mugs. All of her items are things that you use almost everyday.

This cake stand is from Vessels and Wares (one of my favorite shops). I like that she puts the extra touches on her wares, like the wavy edges and the lace work. It is very unique and not something that you can find just anywhere. Plus, they all come in such pretty colors. Check out the hanging baskets too!

I make alot of salads and this salad and serving bowl set would be fantastic. It comes from Blue Sky Pottery where everything is a beautiful shade of blue. I love how she shows a picture of herself making the pottery in each of her items.

Thanks for reading!

I think I can....

These baby ducks are trying to make it to the pond, but they have to get up on the sidewalk first. This proves to be an impossiblity. Meanwhile, MomDuck doesnt like us watching and she lets us know with alot of quacking. DadDuck looks on and seems impatient.

We had to give up on this show as a car approaced behind us.

Oh, wait. I think these might be geese. :)

We have a bloom...finally

And it finally blooms......
Never planted sunflowers before. I've been watching it everyday from the first day it sprouted green from the soil. It got bigger and bigger. The thickest stem I have ever seen on a flower, and when I thought it could not grow taller, a bud started forming, and now today, we have SUNFLOWER.
Isn't she beautiful?

Oh me, oh my

I found these gorgeous prints at Little Blue Bird Studio.

They are printed on old dictionary paper. How unique is that? these would look great in a dark frame on the wall. I am putting them on my wish list of things I want. Oh, and the best part they are only $8 a picture.

My famous Potato Soup

I wish I had a picture, but I dont.

We are a family of four and this will feed us for two nights, so you could probably make it smaller if you wanted.

I boil 13 cubed potatoes for 15 minutes. Then I put them all in the crockpot, then add:
1 small container of half and half or cream
1 large container of sour cream
2 regular cans of chicken broth
1 regular can of cream of celery
3 regular bags of colby and monterey cheese (yes, its alot of cheese, but it makes it so good!)

Mix it all up and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.

I then sprinkle a little cheese and bacon on top (yummy!)

Its super creamy and the best potato soup a girls ever had!

Impulse buys

I saw this on the front page of Etsy late one night and I had clicked and bought it before I knew it.

I got it in the mail today and I absolutely LOVE it! It has a little fawn on it. I know, I know, I have jewelry problem, but what's a girl to do?

The shop is called Adictaalescomplementos. It is filled with just darling creations made by Nee who lives in Spain. She sent me a lovely note written in Spanish along with my purchase which I had fun translating. :)

So...thank you Nee for a lovely necklace that I cannot wait to wear.

Help Judy!

Just thought I'd do a random act of kindness.....

Whimbrella says:
Judy of SEW Fun Quilts (and a quiltsy friend of mine) is one of 5 semi-finalists in a blog contest to win an Accuquilt Go! cutting system (value $350). Judy is the only contestant with an etsy shop.

Since Judy was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, having this cutter will certainly help enable her to create longer with less pain.

Will you please help Judy? She really really really wants to win this. Time is running out and Judy needs more votes.

All you have to do is:

1. Click on this link

http://bejeweledquilts.blogspot.com/2010/06/what-stressful-daywaitingand-waitingand.html

2. Click the radio-dial for SEW MEOW (Judy's blog ID) in the top left hand corner (no scrolling needed)

3. Click the VOTE box and you're done! Thank you!

It just takes a second to potentially make someone really happy. I'm sure Judy will appreciate your kindness.

Hmmm...

Today, me and the W had chinese food for lunch. He opened his fortune cookie, but there was no fortune in it. Do you think that's a bad sign?

Before and After pictures

beforeafter

So, I've been tweaking my pictures in my shop lately. I'm not a photographer, so this doesnt come easily for me. I'm basically hoping for awesomeness from my camera (all to no avail).
I think I am finally getting the hang of it though. I use Microsoft Picture It (came standard with my PC) to tweak my pics. I use to just change the brightness and contrast of it. That's all thats been done in the before pic.
To achieve the after pic, I changed the brightess up 20%, the contrast to 50%, then I adjusted the sharpness (I only pressed the sharpen button, again I'm not a wiz at this), then I adjusted the brightness another 20% and I sharpened it one more time.
All I ever read about for small buisness is photos, photos, photos. I think this drastically improved this picture. I'm working on doing all the pictures in the shop.
So, what do you think? Was it a big improvement?
I'm always reading about ways to improve your photos, but most of the articles is full of photography jargon that my mind just doesnt have the capacity for. So..........I've simplified it, and all it took was just to sit and play with it and use the undo button many times. :)

My new paintings!

I custom ordered these paintings a few weeks ago for the dining room. As you know, from prior posts, I am redecorating the entire room (ever so slowly). I have been trying to find someone who can paint birds on a piece of tile and then frame it. Well, low and behold I found a very nice lady who could. Renee Bauman painted these lovely items for me. I could not have asked for them to be any better. She captured the birds just the way I wanted them. She framed them exactly the way I wanted them. I love, love, love them. She was also fabulous to work with and more than fair on the price. I will definately be returning to her shop to get me some more of these.

Arent they great?

As soon as my dining room is complete, I will posts pics of them on the wall and the rest of the room too.

Yay, me!

My Folklore Bag

I love the fabric in this bag. Those little squirrels are so cute. Unfortunately, I dont have any more of it so this is the last one I will be making. This is a one of a kind bag. It would also work as a diaper bag.

Check it out here!

Yum, yum, Yummy, yum

You must, must, must try this!

Melanie's Special Oreo Pudding

In a large bowl add:

1 large box of vanilla pudding
3 cups of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 container of cool whip
1 pack of softened cream cheese

blend together with mixer

add a pack of crumbled oreo's and stir in

refrigerate at least overnight (its tastes better the colder it is)

My children love this. My husband loves this and I love this. I confess that I ate an extra bowl when nobody was looking. Shhh.......
